Hendriks, Theodore (14 MAY 1874 - 11 MAY 1940)

Last rites were conducted for Theodore Hendriks, Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) farmer, on Tuesday, May 14th, 1940, by Father A.M. Muckerheide, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here. Mr. Hendrik’s 66th birthday. His death was caused from pneumonia which set in as the result of a crushed chest received in an auto accident at Ripon, Wis., May 6th. He died Saturday morning.

The deceased was born in Holland May 14th, 1874, where he was united in marriage to Nellie Jensen on May 4th, 1899. He came to this country 38 years ago, residing at Faribault, Minn., and Glenwood City, Wis., before coming to Thorp in 1915 and settling on a farm three miles south of here.

He was an excellent farmer, outspoken in hi beliefs, firm in his convictions and a true friend. His presence will be sadly missed in this community.

Besides his widow he is survived by four sons, Theodore of Withee, Anton of Sheboygan, and John and Frank at home; four daughters, Mars (Mrs. Geo. Telford), Lena (Mrs. Chas. Biddle) of Thorp, Wilhelmina (Mrs. Robert Missling), Loyal, and Annie (Mrs. Clarence Duss) of Boyd; four brothers, William of Faribault, Minn., and John, Marion and Henry in Holland and 15 grandchildren.

He was laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, the following serving as pallbearers: Wm. Oberle, Louis Duss, Mike Heiser, Joe Dobrzanski, Peter Grendzinski and Albert Wink.
