Douglas, Doris (Marriage - 3 Aug. 1944)

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jakel announce the marriage of their son, Lt. Bernard C. Jakel of Manchester, N.H., to Miss Doris Douglas on August 3, 1944. After the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Douglas. Later, Lt. and Mrs. Jakel were tendered a surprise party at a local hall with 115 friends and relatives attending. Before her marriage, Mrs. Jakel was employed as a junior meteorologist in the U.S. weather bureau at Knoxville, Tenn. Lt. Jakel is a graduate of the Curtiss grade and Dorchester, Wis. High Schools and was a student at the University of Wisconsin before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in May, 1940. He received his commission at Miami, Fla., in 1943. Since his return from foreign service, he has been stationed at Grenier Field, N.H., and recently transferred to the A.T.C. headquarters Silver St. The couple are at home at 524 Bodwell Rd., Manchester, New Hampshire, for the present.
