Candahl, Edith M. (Marriage - 16 Nov. 1944)

A very pretty wedding took place in the Curtiss Congregational church at 10:30 o’clock Thursday morning when Miss Edith M. Candahl became the bride of Eugene W. Laurent. Miss Candahl, primary teacher in the Curtiss schools the past four years, received her training at Rusk County Normal at Ladysmith and Central State Teachers’ College at Stevens Point. She is the daughter of Miss Caroline Candahl of Owen, Wis. Mr. Laurent, a former principal of schools at Curtiss, is a graduate of River Falls State Teachers’ College with a B.S. degree and is working on a P.M. degree at New Mexico University at Albuquerque. He is the son of Mrs. Margaret Laurent of Thorp.

Rev. C. S. Matthews officiated and Norman Erickson sang "Because I Love You Truly" during the service, accompanied by Mrs. Leland Smiley. The bride, attired in a white ensemble, carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Lester Jacobson of Prentice. Mrs. Jacobson was attired in blue.

Following the ceremony, a large reception was held at the school house. The room was decorated in blue and white. Mrs. Leland Smiley poured and Mrs. Caroline Candahl served wedding cake which was served from a beautiful decorated table. The couple will make their home at Neillsville, Wis.
