Hirsch, Emelyn #2 (3 Sept. 1886 - 19 July 1944)

Mrs. Melvin Isabell Hirsch, age 57, wife of Everett C. Hirsch, Wausau superintendent of schools, died Wednesday afternoon at 5:50 o’clock at a Wausau hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Helke Funeral Home at Wausau and at 2:00 o’clock at the First Universalist church at Wausau, Rev. F. J. Jordan of Eau Claire officiating and burial was made in the Colby cemetery.

Mrs. Hirsch, the former Emelyn Cook, was born September 3, 1886, in Unity and was married there June 15, 1912. She was a graduate of the Unity, Wis. High School and the Oshkosh State Teachers College. She taught in high schools in the state previous to her marriage.

She was a member of the Wausau Federated Women’s Club and the ladies’ aid society of the First Universalist church. She lived in Wausau ten years.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Maj. Allan H. Hirsch, army field artillery officer whose present whereabouts are unknown, and Donald E. Hirsch of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, George S. Cook and Walter E. Cook of Unity and Raymond Cook of Marathon; three sisters, Mrs. Etta Mason of West Allis, Mrs. Edith Tollefson of Solon Springs, and Miss Mabel Cook of Chicago and six grand children.
