Estrumse, Donald (8 Sept. 1928 - 31 July 1944)

Donald Estrumse, who had been ill the past nine weeks due to a complication of ailments, died Monday morning at 6:30 o’clock at his home in Colby at the age of 15 years. The body is lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. and at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby at 2:00 P.M., Rev. D. Grether officiating.

The deceased was born on Sept. 8th, 1928, at Milwaukee, and when he was three years old, moved to Dorchester and started school there. In 1939, he moved to Colby and attended graded school here and completed two years of high school.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Estrumse of Colby, father, Abe Estrumse of New York, two brothers, Maj. Elmer Estrumse of Indianapolis, Ind., and Clarence Estrumse of East Port Orchard, Wash., two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Mason of Milwaukee and Mrs. Eldred (Mildred) Hanne of Colby, Wis. Also two nephews and one niece.

Funeral services for Donald Estrumse, age 15, were held at the First Evangelical and Reformed church last Thursday afternoon, Rev. D. Grether officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Henry Voightlander, Jr., Arnold Dehne, John Stetler, George Weller, Richard Herrmann and Veron Hanne. Those in charge of the flowers were Marjorie and Dorothy Young, Eileen Gutenberger, Shirley and Iris Brehm and Marcia Schultz.
