Schmidt, Rachel (3 JUL 1940)

Mr. Arnold Mortensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mortensen of Stanley, and Miss Rachel Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Schmidt, of this village (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.), were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by Father A.M. Muckerheide in a nuptial mass at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here at eight o’clock Wednesday morning, July 3rd, 1940. The couple was attended by William Schmidt, brother of the bride, as best man, and Margaret Hendricks of Sheboygan, bridesmaid, with Willard Mortensen, brother of the groom, and Miss Margie Bogumill, the second attending couple. Miss Marie Mortensen, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. She was attired in aqua green lace dress with matching veil. Miss Hendricks wore a dress of pink net and veil to match held in place with headband. Miss Bogumill wore pink marquisette, brocaded with lilies of the valley, with train and long veil with blusher. Her flowers were white gardenias, carnations and roses. The groom and his attendants wore the conventional navy blue.

Little Adeline Schmidt, sister of the bride, was flower girl and carried a large colonial bouquet of mixed flowers.

After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to immediate families at the home of the bride’s parents. The reception which was attended by forty-five guests continued throughout the day and dinner and supper were served at the Schmidt home. In the evening a wedding dance was given at the Mileaway Pavilion.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon on a trip to Sheboygan, Milwaukee and Chicago, and will be at home in the future at Stanley, where the groom is employed. "The Courier" joins their many friends in extending best wishes for a long life of wedded bliss.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. C. Schaele, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hendricks and family of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hansen, Suring, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hansen, Two Rivers, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Jensen, Hans P. Jensen of Green Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mortensen, Ray Mortensen, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hansen of Stanley.
