Winterer, Frank (7 APR 1869 - 14 AUG 1940)

Frank Winterer passed away at his home in the town of Butler (Clark Co., Wis.) on Aug. 14, 1940, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 15 days.

Frank Winterer was born at Hillsboro, April 7, 1869. While still a young man he took up a homestead in Nebraska. Several years later he came back to his old home at Hillsboro. After farming there for some time he moved to Thorp, (Clark Co.), Wis., where he has since resided. He was married to Hannah Kraemer of Livingston, Wis., on Feb. 26, 1896. To this union was born three children, one son Bernard, who preceded him in death, two daughters, (Maud) Mrs. Everett Mick, Spencer, and (Salome) Mrs. Ingvald Ondol, Thorp.

Seven years ago he was stricken with a serious sickness from which he never fully recovered. The last two years he was confined to his bed most of the time, being cared for by his wife and daughter. His patience at all time, in the face of his continuous suffering, was thought to be remarkable by all who visited him during his long illness. After all was done for him that loving hearts and hands could do, and in as much as he tried with the little strength he had to get well. A few days hence the voice of the Lord said to him "come unto me and I will give you rest." "you have fought a good fight, you have finished the faith, henceforth there is a crown of life laid up for you."

He left to mourn his wife, two daughters, Maud and Salome, one daughter-in-law, Sylvia, two sons-in-law, Everett and Avle, two grandchildren, Janice and Arthur, one brother, Tony Winterer, of Hillsboro, two sisters, Emma Churchill, Lakeland, Minn., Caroline Satterlee, Rockford, Ill. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in Butler and burial was made in Butler Cemetery. Rev. McDonley of Augusta officiated. Pallbearers were: Chas. Tieman, Emil Reineke, Dave Butler, Clarence Green, Wm. Mayenschein, Hugo Kuehl.

Those from away who attended the funeral of Frank Winterer on Saturday afternoon were: Mrs. Silvia Winterer of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Mick and daughter Janice, Spencer, Tony Winterer, Hillsboro, Mrs. Emma Churchill, Lakeland, Minn., Mrs. Caroline Satterlee, Rockford, Ill., Asa Taylor, Foreston, Ill., Lyman Taylor, Harlem, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. James Drinkwater and Mrs. Andrew Knutson and son Otto of Livingston, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Maes of Stillwater, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Knute Hestead and daughter Helen of Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Arnold, Spencer, Mrs Richard Arnold, Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Rohan, Withee, Mrs. Sebrenock and son Robert, Cadott, Mrs. Alpha Hall, Arthur Shoemaker and Webb Smith of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shoemaker, Alma Center, Mr. and Mrs. J.J.
