Wicker, Oliver (17 Sept. 1871 - Jan. 1882)

Two bright little boys, sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wicker, of Unity, have been taken away by that dread disease scarlet fever. The eldest, about ten years of age, was buried on Friday *** Note: The rest of the paragraph is missing.

Mr. Wicker’s two little ones died from the fatal disease after a very brief illness; we understand that little Annie is in a fair way to recover. The afflicted family has the deep sympathy of our citizens in their bereavement, and such sympathy would, without doubt, in many instances, be shown by acts of neighborly kindness, if people were not so much afraid of spreading the disease in their own families.

*** Note: The names of the Wicker sons are from the 1880 U.S. Federal Census, Hixon, Clark County, Wisconsin and the birth information is from the Colby Memorial Cemetery Index.
