Frank Burzynski, age 88, longtime Stanley resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2007, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Stanley, WI.

A Christian Burial Mass was held on Monday, December 17, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Assumption Polish National Catholic Church, Lublin, WI, with Fr. Marian Talaga officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery with the Stanley VFW Post #2711 and Stanley American Legion Victory Post #112 conducting military graveside rites.

Friends and family called on Sunday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the) Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI, and one hour prior to services Monday morning at the funeral chapel in Stanley. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements. Monetary memorials given will be donated by the family for research to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Frank was born March 14, 1919, in Chicago, IL, the son of Adolph and Cecelia (Olejniczak) Burzynski. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Thorp, WI, where he grew up and attended area rural schools. He then moved to Chicago, IL, working there until serving his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he came back to Thorp and eloped to Kentucky to be married to Teddy Lencz on March 2, 1946. Returning to Thorp, the young couple opened their first grocery store. In 1959, they moved to Stanley, opening a grocery store there, turning it into a life-long career, and eventually turning it over to his two daughters and sons-in-law.

Frank is survived by his three children: Judy (Jack) Radtke of Stanley, WI, Frank (MaryAnn) Burzynski of La Fox, IL, and Jane (Rod) Frederickson of Stanley, WI; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Florian (Rose) Burzynski of Gilman, WI; and three sisters: Phyllis Kotlowski of Adams-Friendship, WI, Eleanor (Bill) Winger of Green Bay, WI, and Loretta (Walter) Smith of Sun City, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Teddy, in 1993; and one brother, Eddie Burzynski.
