Franz, Carol Adele (Marriage - 11 May 1946)

Miss Carol Adele Franz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franz and George E. Meese of Dover, Ohio, were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran church in Colby Saturday, May 11, at one o’clock, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Lorenz Bronquel, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Doris Elstrom was the bridesmaid. The groom was attended by his brother, Robert Meese of Dover, Ohio, as best man. The church was decorated with candles, a candle lit aisle and altar, and ferns and palms were placed on the altar. Mr. Ervin Lutz played the wedding march and recessional and the soft background music during the ceremony.

The bride was attired in a gown of net yoke with off the shoulder effect satin bodice with scalloped peplum, full double net skirt and long train. Her veil was finger tip length and scalloped, fastened to a tiara of white sequins. Her prayer book was topped with an orchid and from it were white streamers to which were tied white swansonians.

The matron of honor wore a dress of white marquisette with full skirt, fitted bodice and peplum, and short cap sleeves trimmed with narrow satin bands. Her colonial bouquet consisted of red and white roses. The bridesmaid wore a white dress, fitted satin bodice with a full ninon skirt and satin peplum, headdress of white pearl centered satin flowers. Her bouquet consisted of white gardenias and swansonians.

A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents after a dinner at the Club House at Dorchester, Wis.

The young couple left on a wedding trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., where the groom has made arrangements to enter the University of Michigan after his discharge from the navy in June. He will continue his studies in naval architecture there. For her going away attire, the bride wore a gray gabardine suit with white hat and gloves and an orchid corsage.

The bride graduated from Colby, Wis. High School in 1938 and received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1943. She has been employed the past two and one-half years in Philadelphia by International Business Machines in that city.

The groom graduated from the Dover High School and attended the naval academy at Newport News, Virginia, until his induction into the navy. Upon the completion of his studies in naval architecture, he expects to be employed at Newport News, Virginia.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Meese and Robert Meese and son Robert, of Dover, Ohio, and Mrs. Lorenz Bronquel of New Orleans.
