Kasken, Gertrude (4 Sept. 1914 - 28 Jan. 1947)

Withee - It was reported here on good authority that Clark county law enforcement officials have employed a Milwaukee firm of investigators in an effort to arrive at the facts connected with the death of the late Gertrude Kasken.

Mrs. Kasken, a teacher in a rural school located northwest of Withee village, was found dead in her bed at the Kasken farm home on the morning of Jan. 28, 1947. She had attended to her school duties on the previous day and had appeared normal in every way when seen at approximately 6 p.m. on the day preceding her death. Her husband had left for Florida three days before.

Medical authorities, after making a post mortem examination of the body of Mrs. Kasken shortly after her death, reported that cyanide in the materials tested were compatible with death due to cyanide.
