Meek, Sarah J. #2 (5 FEB 1849 - 27 MAR 1941)

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Meek, 92, was held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the Grace Methodist Church at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Meek passed away at a hospital at Waupaca Wednesday, March 27, 1941.

Sarah Jane Meek was born in Rosendale Feb. 5, 1849, and most of her girlhood was spent at Black River Falls. From there the family moved to Alma Center, later to Greenwood, residing there until 1907. At this time Mrs. Meek went to Withee to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Tufts. Since the death of Mrs. Tufts she had been a t the Veteran’s Hospital at Waupaca.

She was married in 1867 to George Meek, who preceded her in death, with two children. Mrs. Meek had been an active member of the Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and also was affiliated with the auxiliary to the G.A.R., her husband having been a Civil War veteran.

Surviving are three sons, Charles of Yakima, Wash., Hugh of Wis. Rapids, and Ralph of St. Paul; a brother in Black River Falls; and a sister in Owen.
