Isabelle H. Ziegahn

Isabelle H. Ziegahn, age 83, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Bethel Care Center in Arpin after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert A. Brandt, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Marshfield.

The visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Isabelle was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Colby, the daughter of Fred and Augusta (Manthe) Miller. She attended elementary school in Riplinger, graduating from eighth grade as top in her class and later graduating from Colby High School where she studied bookkeeping.

She and Donald J. Ziegahn were united in marriage March 15, 1947. He died July 5, 2002.

As a young person, she worked as a bookkeeper for Wisconsin Cheese and later as a bookkeeper for Figi Cheese in Marshfield. She worked as the office manager at Modern of Marshfield for 27 years until her retirement in 1987. For several years after retirement, she and her husband, Donald, maintained the financial records for the Marshfield Fire Association. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, was a fantastic cook who always put incredible efforts into family holiday gatherings, and she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. During the years, she enjoyed such things as dance club, golfing, picnics with family, home decorating and being involved in 4-H drama productions. She always held fond memories of trips to San Francisco and Australia. A favorite activity in later years was feeding and watching songbirds.

She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Marshfield.

Isabelle is survived by her children, Barry (Kay) Ziegahn of Richland Center, Douglas Ziegahn of Madison and Pamela (Jeffrey Loveland) Ziegahn of Marshfield. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Anne Jandl of Winona, Minn., Geoffrey Ziegahn of Chemnitz, Germany, Ara Metz of Hudson, David Ziegahn of Anchorage, Alaska, and Alana Metz of St. Paul, Minn.; as well as three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Isabelle's name may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Marshfield.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Pastor Brandt and to the caring staff of Bethel Care Center.

Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com.
