Wolk, Fred John (2 Nov. 1888 - 29 Feb. 1952)

Fred John Wolk died at his home in Colby Friday noon, February 29, at the age of 63 years, coronary thrombosis being the cause of his death. He had been in poor health for several years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Ev. and Reformed church, Rev. F. P. Puhlmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Walter Wiersig, Otto Witte, Wm. Schmidt, Wm. Sachse, Harold Wiersig and Frank Meyer. Flowers were in charge of Joanne Wolk and Shirley Schmelzer.

Mr. Wolk was born in McKeesport, Pa., on November 2, 1888, thus reaching the age of 63 years, three months and 27 days. He came to the town of Hull with his parents in 1896. On October 9, 1912, he married Helen Lemmin. They farmed in the town of Hull until 1943 when they moved to Colby, Wis. He was a man with a cordial disposition, of excellent habits and fine moral character. He continued to be active until his health failed two years ago. He was a practical matter-of-fact man and everyone who knew him liked him.

He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Ed Fricke of Colby, and one brother, Emil Wolk of Colby, Wis.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mrs. Anton Hederer and Mrs. Najacht of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larson of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. John Kralcik, Sr., John Kralcik, Jr., and Mrs. Peter Horacek of Milan, Mr. and Mrs. George Kelsey and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ortmeier of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hake and Mrs. Adolph Hake of Green Grove and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lemmin of King.
