Weix, Laura Mary (Marriage - 4 Aug. 1954)
Miss Laura Mary Weix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Weix, and Leonard Riese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Riese, were united in marriage Wednesday, August 4, in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Father Vincent Schwartz, reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Charles Riese served as matron of honor and Rita Weix and Nancy Beightol were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Paul Weix, Charles Riese and Leo Weix. Kathy Weix, niece of the bride, and Joan Kilty were flower bearers.
The bride was attired in a nylon gown with a pleated yoke, Peter Pan collar, lace bodice, satin and lace skirt covered with a half skirt of lace over nylon tulle, ending in a full-length train. Her fingertip veil was caught to a lace crown, encircled with seed pearls. Her bouquet consisted of two dozen red roses.
The matron of honor wore a strapless gown of pink net over taffeta with a jacket apron effect on skirt. The bridesmaids wore formal strapless gowns with jackets, net over taffeta, apron effect skirts in orchid and green, respectively. All three also wore rhinestone necklaces, gifts of the bride, and carried arm bouquets.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the home being decorated with pink, white, green and blue streamers. Supper was served in St. Mary’s gym.
On their return from a trip through Minnesota into Canada, the couple will be at home after August 10th in Spencer where the groom is engaged in farming.
Out of town guests were from Minnesota, Chicago, Milwaukee, Edgar, Spencer, Wausau, Marshfield and Crete.
