Lau, Johanna (25 Feb. 1855 - 26 Dec. 1930)

MRS. AUGUST LAU

Mrs. August Lau, nee Johanna Mattick, was born in Germany February 25th, 1855.

She emigrated to the United States in 1868, first making her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She was united in marriage to Aug. Lau and had since made her home in the town of Holton, with the exception of several years when she stayed with her daughter, Mrs. Ida Schupmehl in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mr. and Mrs. Lau were the parents of eight children, four of whom preceded their mother in death. Mr. Lau passed to the great beyond September 12, 1925.

Mrs. Lau was taken to Wausau hospital for treatment December 11th and returned home in two weeks much improved, but was taken quite suddenly worse and passed away Friday, December 26, 1930, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 11 days, old age and leakage of the heart being the cause of death.

Near relatives left to mourn are three daughters, Mrs. Lena Neipert of Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. James Heida town of Holton; Mrs. Ida Schupmehle of Milwaukee; and one son Albert Lau also town of Holton, also thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and one brother John Mattik (Mattick).

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon December 29th from the Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford, Rev. J. Brandt, officiating. Burial was made in the Holton cemetery.
