Philippi, Kathryn (12 Dec. 1877 - 15 Feb. 1954)

Miss Kathryn Philippi died of a heart ailment at the age of 76 years Monday morning at 10:15 o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Laura Frane, where she made her home the past two and one-half years. A general rosary was recited at the Lulloff Funeral Home Wednesday evening and funeral services were held in St. Mary’s Catholic church Thursday morning, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Miss Philippi was born on December 12, 1877, in the town of Mosinee and received her education in the Colby schools and at the State Normal School in Stevens Point. She taught school for 15 years after which she engaged in millinery work until 1941. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, and the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laura Frane of Colby, Wis. Preceding her in death were five brothers, Peter, Nicholas, Anton, Michael and John Philippi, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Chase and Mrs. Margaret Burneister.

Funeral services for Miss Kathryn Philippi, whose death was reported last week, were held Thursday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were John, Virgil and David Frane, Orville Chase and Herbert and Wilbur Philippi, all nephews of the deceased. Members of the Royal Neighbors, Mrs. Bertha Young, Mrs. Sam Yelke, Mrs. Paul Draeger, Mrs. Earl Robertson, Mrs. Charles Schulz and Mrs. William C. Pacholke, were in charge of the flowers.

Out-of-town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Frane and sons, Michael, Jeffrey, Danny and Tommy, and Mrs. Margaret Frane of Milwaukee, Mrs. M. M. Philippi, Mrs. Clifford Billings, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Chase, Mrs. Eva Reusch, Mrs. Martin Jacobs and daughter, Maurene, Mrs. Joseph Felhoefer, Mrs. Leona Mittelstadt and John Rembs of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Frane of Curtiss, Mrs. Douglas Rifleman of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kanter of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Chase of Westboro, Mrs. Joel Schulz of Tomahawk, Mrs. Harold Miller of Hortonville, Herbert Philippi of Oshkosh and Wilbur Philippi of Neenah.
