Meyer, Yvonne (Marriage - 13 Aug. 1955)

Miss Yvonne Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer of Stratford, and Howard Kumbier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kumbier of Colby, Wisconsin were united in marriage in St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Stratford Saturday morning, August 13. Wedding vows were repeated prior to a nuptial high mass before Rev. Robert Finucane. The bride was attended by two friends, Miss Gloria McNeight of Stratford and Miss Kitty Jaeger of Wausau. Eugene Meyer of Stratford, a brother of the bride, served as best man and Robert Ebert of Wausau was groomsman. Ushers were Ronald Laessig, a cousin of the bride, and Teddy Meyer, a brother of the bride.

Star lace over white taffeta fashioned the ballerina-length gown worn by the bride for her wedding. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a matching headpiece. Her bouquet consisted of white carnations and pink roses. Miss McNeight, the maid of honor, wore a ballerina-length gown of star lace over light green taffeta and the bridesmaid wore an identically styled gown of star lace over light pink taffeta. They carried pastel, multi-colored bouquets of daisy pompoms and had matching headbands of daisies.

A 1:00 o’clock dinner was served 60 guests in the Paris Avenue after which the couple left on a wedding trip to Canada. On their return, they will reside in Colby, Wis.

The bride, a graduate of Stratford High School, is employed by the Lewis Container Co. The groom, a graduate of Colby High School and the Central State College in Stevens Point, is principal of the Colby Graded School.
