Curtiss, Wis. - Aug. 11, 1955

The Ladies’ Aid of the Ev. Lutheran church will meet on Thursday, Aug. 18, at the parish hall. Hostesses will be Mrs. Marion Murphy and Mrs. Theo. Thompson.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Tieman of Milton Junction, former residents here, called on friends Friday.

Recent guests at the Laabs brothers home were their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Pease, and family of Bay City, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Laabs of Concordia, Mo.

Thursday guests of Mrs. Frank Matthias and Mrs. E. M. Peterson were their sister, Mrs. J. E. Simpson of Sturgeon Bay and son, John, of Baltimore, Md.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Laabs and family of Springfield, Mo., are at the Laabs cottage at Lake Isadore.

The Borgeheimer Construction Co. finished the side walks in the village Monday and returned to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Mr. and Mrs. Mattila and daughter of Waukegan visited Friday with their aunt, Mrs. Anna Tonn.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Morrison of Letts, Ia., who are honeymooning in Wisconsin, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Geary at a family dinner Thursday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lien were honored at a surprise house-warming Saturday evening by a number of relatives. They were presented a gift. Refreshments were served.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Graham and sons of Mauston visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Thompson, during the week.

Dean Hawks has resigned as principal of schools here and accepted a teaching position in the Spencer schools. His wife, who has been employed at the Owen-Curtiss State Bank the past two years, also resigned. Her place was taken by Mrs. Floyd Klemetson.

Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Laabs, went to Escanaba, Mich., Tuesday to visit the remainder of the week at the Harold Tonn home.

Miss Bernice Fahrenbach returned to St. Paul, Minn., Wednesday after vacationing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fahrenbach.

Mr. and Mrs. John Lokken spent the week-end at Minneapolis with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Art Lokken. On Saturday evening, they were guests at the wedding of their niece Darlene, daughter of *** Note: The remainder of this article was missing.
