Werner, Jake (3 Apr. 1868 - 11 Mar. 1955)

Funeral services for Jake Werner of Dorchester, Wisconsin, age 86, who died Friday morning at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, were held Monday afternoon at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church in Dorchester, Wis., Rev. Fred Kollath officiating. Burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Art, Reinhold, Arnold, Paul, Marvin, Alvin Werner. The deceased had been ill with old age complications the past two years.

Mr. Werner was born in Germany on April 3, 1868, and came to the United States at the age of 19 years and settled in Sheboygan county. He came to the Colby vicinity in 1898 and engaged in farming. He married Rose Schorer on August 4, 1894, who preceded him in death. In 1936, he married Anna Rose and moved to Dorchester with her.

Besides his second wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Wm. Gerlach of Sheboygan Falls, Art Werner of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Frieda Koeppen of Colby, Paul Werner of Albert Lee, Minn., Marvin Werner of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. Leona Burkhardt of Sheboygan Falls, Arnold Werner of Edmonds, Wash., Alvin Werner of Wills, Minn., Reinhold Werner of Sheboygan, Ray Werner of Albert Lee, Minn. Also 35 grand children and 15 great grand children.

Out of town people present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gerlach and son, Ervin, Mrs. Leona Burkhardt and daughters, Evelet and Merlet of Sheboygan Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Neuhaus and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schorer, Mrs. Frieda Boltz and Mrs. Frank Wensaure of Sheboygan, Mrs. Kate Schorer and Howard Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Werner of Edmonds, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Werner of Wells, Minn., Marvin Werner, Rose and Robert of Fairmont, Minn., Paul Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Werner and son, Dickie, and Linda Werner of Albert Lee, Minn., Mrs. Frieda Koeppen, Wynola and Kenneth, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zassenhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Frome, Mrs. Agnes Schorer, Mrs. Robert Schorer and son, Fritz, Albert Podevels and Mr. and Mrs. Felix Hainzlsperger and son, Joe of Colby, Mrs. Elmer Sanders of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Genett of Spencer and Arthur Werner of Elkhart Lake.
