Last rites were conducted at the Izydorek-Hanson Funeral Home at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Ernest Schneider, by Rev. Harry Lee, pastor of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Schneider, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elfrieda Sarff at Stevens Point, had reached the age of 89 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Emma Katherine Borgenquast was born in New Holstein, Wis., on March 14, 1853. She was married there to Ernest Schneider in 1873. She resided for twenty years in the villages of New Holstein, Reedsville and Friendship, before coming to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) with her husband and family in 1903. Mr. Schneider, a harness maker, died four years ago. The Schneider’s also operated a hotel here for a number of years. After her husband’s death in 1938, Mrs. Schneider lived with her daughter in Milwaukee and Stevens Point.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elfrieda Sarff of Stevens Point, one son, Magnus Schneider, of Thorp, and six grandchildren, Erna Rabska, California, Vivian Meyer, Claifornia, Norman and Les Sarff, Milwaukee, Norean Newtson, West Allis, Wis., and Muriel Mitchell, Duluth, Minn.
The remains were laid beside her husband in Riverside Cemetery (Black River Falls). Pallbearers were 5 nephews, John, Edward, George, Clarence and Hugo Borgenquast.
