Bauernfeind, John (8 JUL 1879 - 2 AUG 1942)
John Bauernfeind, in the tailoring business in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past twenty-two years, passed away at his home here of a heart attack on Sunday, Aug. 2, 1942. He had reached the age of 63 years.
Mr. Bauernfeind was born in Germany on July 8, 1879. He came to America in 1904 and resided in Medford, Wis., until 1919, moving to Brazil, S.A., until 1920 when he came to Thorp. He was united in marriage to Theresa Eichinger at Medford on May 14, 1907.
He was a member of the local Catholic Order of Foresters, members of that organization acting as pallbearers. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council at Medford.
Surviving him are his widow, three sons, Alvin of Anaconda, Mont., Leon of Minocqua and John of Thorp; four daughters, Dorothy Bauernfeind, Grabon, of Thorp, Erica Bauernfeind, Minneapolis, Sister Mary Florence (Thea Bauernfeind), Ladysmith and Clara Bauernfeind Carroll, Chicago; two brothers, Joe of Dorchester and George of Germany and one sister, Margaret, of Germany.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Church here on Wednesday morning, Aug. 5th, Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiating. Interment was made at Medford, Wis. Pallbearers were George Haas, Walter Verkuilen, John Maier, Anton Baldeschwiler, Joseph Gengler and Anton Beller.
