Castner, Theodore R. #2 (18 AUG 1915 - 29 JUN 1941)

The local community was shocked and hearts were filled with sympathy for the bereaved, when, early Sunday evening, June 29, it was learned that death had come suddenly to Theodore R. Castner. His death was a result of an auto accident.

Theodore Roosevelt Castner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Castner, was born in the town of Loyal, Wisconsin, August 18, 1915.

He was a graduate of the Lyon Rural School and attended the Loyal High School for 1 ½ years.

Theodore, known best as "Sam", spent most of his life in Loyal and its vicinity and had recently been employed as truck driver for Tony Shober in road construction.

Those who knew "Sam" liked him and found him always willing to lend a helping hand. He was especially fond of children.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Mary Castner, at 1:30 P. M. followed by services in the Methodist Church at 2 o’clock. The Rev. O. Jewell officiated. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Henry Boe, Hal Voight, Dennis Oestreich, Wilbur Hannon, Albert Witt, and George Ross.

Those who carried the flowers were Joyce Trindal, Janice Trindal, Audrey Motchenbacher, Mrs. Frank Coryell, Mrs. Mary Boe, Mrs. August Fricke, Mrs. Leon West, and Mrs. W. L. Mack.

The vocalists were Mrs. Ray Prior, Mrs. O. Jewell, James Colby, and Arnold Wicklund with Mrs. R. Pengelly as accompanist.

He is survived by his parents, 4 brothers, Forrest, Harry, John, and Royal and three sisters, Miss Hazel Castner, Mrs. Daniel (Nina) Wolters, and Mrs. John (Grace) Kosmosky.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Castner and children, Antigo, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Castner and son, Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wolters and daughter, Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. John Kosmosky, Eau Claire, Mr. Charlie Huntley, and Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt, Park Falls, Mrs. Ray Mortimer, Mrs. Dale Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Al. Mabie, Mrs. Carnie Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davis, Granton, Mrs. Phillip Kissinger, Spencer. Mrs. Elva McNamara, Medford, Jeanette, Valda Castner, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Deets, Mrs. Chet Berg, Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kauffman and daughter Grace, Neillsville, Mrs. Hoffman and son, Spencer, Irvin Mengel and children, Curtis, and Mrs. Lillie Keen, Dousman.
