Scherer, Cecelia M. #2 (29 JUL 1941)

Preceding a Nuptial High Mass which was sung by the choir, Miss Cecelia M. Scherer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Scherer, Sr., of Greenwood, became the bride of Elwood (Bud) Bremer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bremer of Loyal, in a ceremony performed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning, July 29. The Rev. John Novak read the rites before an altar decorated with garden flowers.

The bride chose a long white marquisette entrained gown with velvet flower trim and a finger-tip veil held by a crown of seed pearls. She carried a white prayer book and a bouquet of baby breath, carnations, and white dahlias. Her only jewelry consisted of a heart shaped locket, a gift of the groom.

Miss Katherine Kitzhaber attended as maid of honor in a gown of chiffon, fashioned with a fitted waistline and flowing skirt. Her matching shoulder-length veil was caught to a flowered headdress, and she carried a bouquet of yellow daisies and baby’s breath. George Roth, cousin of the groom, attended as best man.

Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast for the members of the bridal party was served at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with yellow and white streamers and a large white wedding bell. Fifty relatives and friends were also present at a dinner. A three-tiered wedding cake served as centerpiece for the table, and the dinner was prepared by Mrs. L. Kitzhaber and Mrs. Catherine Schmitz. Waitresses were Misses Helen Schmitz and Lila Kolkofen, both of Neillsville, and Miss Dolores Kitzhaber of Greenwood.

The bride was graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 1936 and has been employed as a waitress at the Korupp Café in Greenwood. Mr. Bremer is a truck driver for Kriplean Bros. of Colby, Wis. They left on a wedding trip to Ashland and Northern Wisconsin and are making their home with the groom’s parents, Mr. and mrs. L. C. Bremer.

Guests at the wedding included the following: Mrs. Laura Fleming, Milwaukee; Mrs. C. A. Scranton, Morris Duecey, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Scherer, Mrs. Matt Siwek, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Lindner, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Shell, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bremer, Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Haas and daughters, Jerry and Margie, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hales, Mr. and Mrs. George Roth and family, all of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Scherer and daughter, Barbara, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Denk, daughters, Sharon and Diana, and son, Terry, Mr. and Mrs. George Scherer, Jr., daughter, Nancy, and son, Dicky; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rondorf, all of Greenwood; Catherine Kitzhaber, Phelps.

The Tribune joins the many friends of the newly weds in wishing them much happiness and success in the future.
