Roy Eugene Palms, 87, formerly of Neillsville, died Feb. 19, 2008, at Bethel Nursing Center in Arpin.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.

Roy E. Palms

NEILLSVILLE -- Roy Palms, 87, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at the Bethel Center in Arpin.

Funeral services for Roy will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in the West Lawn Memorial Park in Racine.

Roy Eugene Palms was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Fairchild, the son of Nelson and Alta (Flick) Palms. He lived in the Tioga area and graduated from Tioga School. He married Phyllis Vetter on June 17, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Roy farmed in Clark County until 1950, when he moved to Cudahy to work at the Ladish Co. He worked there as a hammer operator until 1967, when he decided to farm again. He farmed in the Thorp area until 1972. He then worked for Bostrom Seating in Cudahy until his retirement. Roy moved back to the Neillsville area until the time of his death.

Roy loved animals, especially horses and the outdoors. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Sharon) Palms of Lake Geneva, Barry Palms of Necedah, Keith (Sue) Palms of Milwaukee and Jeffrey (Laura) Palms of Arpin; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Palms of Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister, Wilma (Earl) Erickson of Neillsville; and sisters-in-law, Iva Palms and Caroline Palms.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Norbert and Craig; brothers, Harley, Wilfred and Robert; and sisters, Dorothy Bayuk and Orlene O'Leary.
