Margreth N. Haugen

NEILLSVILLE -- Margreth Nina Haugen, 91, formerly of Neillsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at the St. Anthony Park Home in St. Paul, Minn.

Services for Margreth will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Interment will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting Margreth's family with arrangements.

Margreth was born April 25, 1916, in Honey Creek Township in Sauk County, the daughter of Martin and Nina (Baumgartner) Zech. She was employed at Winnebago Children's Home in Neillsville until her marriage to Hiram Haugen on Sept. 21, 1949, in Neillsville. He preceded her in death. They farmed north of Neillsville. Margreth also went back to work for the Winnebago Children's Home for many years. In 1971 they sold the farm and moved into town.

She is survived by a daughter, Nina (Mike) Sweeney of St. Paul, Minn.; two sons, Paul (Diane) Haugen of La Crescent, Minn., and John (Julie) Haugen of Andover, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence Zech of Sauk City.
