Miller, Carol Mae (Marriage - 24 Sept. 1950)

Miss Carol Mae Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Miller of Colby, and Marvin O. Busse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Busse of Abbotsford, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon in St. Paul’s Lutheran church in the town of Green Grove, Rev. Paul Dietz officiating at the double-ring ceremony. Miss Phyllis Radtke of Wausau, cousin of the groom, and Miss Audrey Schroeder of Collins, cousin of the bride, served as attendants. The groom was attended by Halver Becken of Colby, the bride’s cousin, and Ronald Busse of Abbotsford, the groom’s brother. James Herman and Robert Schumacher of Dorchester ushered.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin fashioned with a fitted bodice that featured a sheer yoke embroidered with rhinestones and pearls. The long sleeves tapered to points over the hands and the full skirt was folded in unpressed pleats at the waistline. Her veil of illusion was adorned with appliqués of lace and fell from a beaded tiara. She carried a white prayer book topped with a white orchid and baby mums fastened to satin streamers.

The maid of honor wore a yellow net gown over taffeta with net yoke in drop-shoulder effect. She carried a bouquet of orchid carnations. The bridesmaid’s gown of orchid net over taffeta was fashioned identically to the maid of honor’s and she carried yellow carnations.

Mrs. Miller attended her daughter’s wedding wearing an aqua rayon crepe dress and the groom’s mother was present in a brown tissue faille dress. Both wore corsages of red roses and white gladioli.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony and supper was served at 4:30 o’clock to approximately 120 guests in the church parlors. White orchid and yellow streamers formed the decorations in the hall, and a three-tiered wedding cake centered the bride’s table.

The groom attended Dorchester High School and the bride attended Colby High School. The bride had been employed at the Medford Laundry. They will reside on the groom’s farm near Abbotsford, Wis.

Guests attended from Wausau, Marshfield, Collins, Hilbert, Neenah, Curtiss, Unity, Spencer, Medford, Owen, Dorchester, Abbotsford, Fenwood, Stratford, Loyal and Neillsville.
