Wednesday evening, May 19th, 1943, at the altar of the First Baptist Church in Redwood City, Calif., Miss Dorothy Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hansen of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Lt. Larry W. Roberts, U.S.M.C.R., son of Mr. and Mrs. ?.L. Roberts of Redwood City, Calif.
Rev. Walter B. Smith, pastor of the church, read the solemn service as the couple stood beneath an arch of white roses. The arch was flanked by masses of white Watsonias, lilies and snowball blossoms with a hint of pastel pink accenting the white theme.
The bride wore a floor length gown of white satin and net, with a fingertip length veil flowing from a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried an arm bouquet of gardenias and bouvaralia. Her only attendant was Miss Gladys Newmon of Redwood City, who wore a floor length gown of pink chiffon, a shoulder veil in matching color and carried an old fashioned bouquet of sweet peas.
The groom’s father, a retired army officer, wore his blue dress uniform. The groom’s mother wore a gown of ? lace, embroidered with small flowers. Her corsage was of sweet peas.
Lt. Roberts was attended by Mr. Vern Olson, U.S.M.C.R., of Palo Alto, Calif., as best man.
Mrs. T. Wayne Macadam furnished the background of organ melody for the ceremony, and Mrs. J.O. Erns? Sang "At Dawning." A large number of guests attended the solemn and beautiful service.
The new Mrs. Roberts is a graduate of the Owen High School, graduating with the class of 1941, and since then has been employed in Chicago, Ill.
Lt. Roberts was a graduate of Balboa High School, Panama Canal Zone, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. After he graduated form the Sacramento Junior College. He entered the Navy Dec. 17, 1941, attending his boot training in San Diego and was sent to Chicago for training which rated him as Aviation Machinist Mate, third class, and brought his acquaintance with his bride. Pre-flight training in Iowa and ? preceded his study at Corpus Christi, Texas, where he graduated as Second Lt. in the Marine Corps reserve, May 12, just one week before his marriage. In the graduating class with him was his best man, Vern Olson.
The Just-Weds left immediately after the ceremony for a brief honeymoon, returning to Redwood City within a few days. They were feted ? before they and Lt. Olson returned to Corpus Christi, Texas, where both men will serve as instructors.
Mrs. Roberts chose as her traveling outfit, a three piece light blue wool dress with navy blue accessories.
