Perkins, William A. (18 DEC 1869 - 9 SEP 1943)

William A. Perkins, a pioneer resident of the city of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at his home here this afternoon, following complications, which had caused him ill health for the past two years.

He was born Dec. 18, 1869 in Maine, and came to Eau Claire at the age of five years, where he resided until he came to Owen in 1896. He was united in marriage in Eau Claire to Miss Mable Merriman, and to this union were born two children, Mrs. Roy Gabriel of this city, and Dwight, now in the navy, somewhere in the southwest Pacific.

When he first came to Owen he was employed in the mill of the John S. Owen Lumber Co., holding the position as head sawyer. In later years he was engaged in the draying and fuel business, and then returned to the mill work at the Owen Box & Crating Co., and later was employed by E.W. Kidd Co.

In his forty-seven years of residence in Owen, he had gained for himself a large acquaintance of friends, who will regret to learn of his death.

Funeral arrangements at this writing are not yet complete.
