Babbitt, Mabel (12 APR 1880 - 31 OCT 1965)

Mrs. Ben Babbitt, age 85, passed away at the Eau Claire Manor early Sunday morning.

Mrs. Babbitt was born Mabel Phillips April 12, 1880 at Sheboygan Falls, Wis. She moved to Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis. With her parents and taught school in that area until her marriage to Ben Babbitt, May 9, 1901 at Thorp. They farmed near Boyd, and in the town of Cleveland until 1943, when they moved to Bloomer. For the past seven years Mrs. Babbitt had made her home with her son Frank in Eau Claire.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist; the Order of eastern Star, and the Bloomer Women's Club.

Surviving are eight sons and four daughters, Lester of Willernie, Minn., Frank, Eau Claire; Lyle and Marvin, Bloomer; Kenneth, Altoona; Allen of Thorp; Ben Jr., Chicago, Ill.; Dale of Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Hazel Mayer, Chicago; Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Dashiell, Little Rock, Ark; Mrs. Harold (Irene) Hallanger, Thorp; and Mrs. John (Marjorie) Pritchard, Bloomer; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Larson, Bloomer and Miss. Laura Babbitt, Milwaukee; 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her hsuband, Ben; one brother, Edward and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, with Eugene Hunsinger as the Reader. Interment was in the Bloomer City Cemetery.
