Mary Margaret Eder was born on May 5, 1927, in Geneva, Ill., to Anton and Helen (nee Birkeneder) Eder. She was raised and received her education in Maple Park, Ill., where she graduated from Maple Park High School in 1945. She married Ralph F. Schmitt on Sept. 14, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Maple Park. They resided in Maple Park until 1968, at which time they moved to Loyal and bought a farm. She was a homemaker and worked for 1 ½ years at the Marshfield Convalescent Center. They retired from the farm in 1999, and moved to Loyal. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its PCCW, and was also a member of the Loyal Homemakers Card Club. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, playing cards, sewing, knitting, crocheting and collecting shot glasses.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Ralph Sr., Loyal; six children, Connie (Ray) Milz, Milladore, Patricia Sauber, Caro, Mich., Pamela (Randy) Meyer, Loyal, Ralph F. Schmitt Jr., Willard, Nancy (Jerry) Locknane, Maple Grove, Minn., and Albert (Rhonda) Schmitt, Marshfield; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Eder, Sycamore, Ill.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one great-grandson, Carson Milz; two sisters, Helen Studebaker and Eleanor Liggett; and one brother, Anton Eder Jr.
