Manthe, Minnie (21 Dec. 1868 - 13 July 1952)

Mrs. Minnie Manthe, 83, a former resident of this community, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Paul Wichman at Shawano.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at the Karatha Funeral Home, Shawano, and at 2 p.m. at the North Spencer Lutheran Church. The Rev. R. J. Scholz officiated at the services here and burial was made in the North Spencer cemetery.

The body reposed at the church two hours previous to the service.

Mrs. Manthe, the former Minnie Wichman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wichman, was born December 21, 1868, in Germany. She came to this country with her parents when a child, settling in Dodge County. Her marriage to Carl Manthe took place in that county in 1887. For several years they operated a farm near here, and for the past four years she made her home in Shawano. Mr. Manthe died in 1932.

Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Fred (Augusta) Miller, Unity; Mrs. Paul (Bertha) Wichman, Shawano; Mrs. Al (Hattie) Henckl, Sheboygan; Mrs. Edwin (Alice) Borns, Watertown, S.D.; Mrs. Hulda Reckner, Stratford; Mrs. Ray (Leonda) Sabatke, Beaver Dam; Mrs. Edgar (Lucille) Josephson, of Spencer; and Mrs. Adolph (Hilda) Paasch, Marshfield; a son, Charles, Spencer; 28 grand-children; 24 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hannah Rohde, Waupun; and three brothers, William, Ripon; Henry, Clintonville; and Herman, Sheboygan.

A daughter and four sons preceded her in death.
