Scheer, John (13 Feb. 1874 - 24 July 1955)
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Green Grove for John Scheer, 81, who died at 11:50 a.m. Sunday at his home. The Rev. Martin Krause will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Scheer was born February 13, 1874, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a young child he came to Appleton, where he received his education and was married to Sophia Witt on April 19, 1900. Immediately after their marriage the couple moved to a farm in the Town of Green Grove and lived there until 1950, when they came to Unity.
Mr. Scheer was a member of St. Paul’s Church.
Survivors include two sons, Orland Scheer, Spencer; and Merlin Scheer, Artesia, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Lorinda) Schultz, Loyal; Mrs. Leonard (Irma) Leonancyzk, and Mrs. Walter (Alma) Henn, both of Milwaukee; Mrs. Harvey (Hilda) Wittlinger, Curtiss; and Mrs. Niel (Linda) Oestreich, Loyal; two brothers, Frank and Fred Schroeder, of Appleton; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
His wife died January 19, 1953. A son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.
