Jewett, Harley A. (13 May 1886 - 12 July 1956)

Harley A. Jewett, 70, a long time resident of Unity, Wisconsin, died of a lingering illness last Thursday night at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient for three weeks. His most recent residence was at a nursing home in Owen.

Funeral rites were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, with the Rev. Roger Knutson, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was made in the Unity cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Francen, Edward Mews, Clarence Edblom, Ed Feit, W. M. Siegrist and Frank Pfeffer.

Mr. Jewett was born on a farm near here and lived in the community nearly all his life except for a period spent in the harvest fields of Idaho.

Survivors include three brothers, Wesley and Clyde, Unity, and Clarence, Calumet, Mich., and five sisters, Mrs. Cora Finkle, Mrs. Mable Gaines, Missouri, Mrs. Sadie Griggs, Washington, Mrs. Doris Cunningham, Minnesota and Mrs. Alma Wisse, New York. One brother, Elmer, preceded him in death.

Out of town people here for the funeral included Mrs. Doris Miller, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jewett, Calumet, Mich.; Mrs. Elmer Jewett, daughter and grandsons, Ladysmith; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Nieme, Withee and friends from Unity and Colby, Wis.
