Justman, Mr./Mrs. Alfred W. (50th Anniv. - 26 Mar. 1961)

About 150 guests were present at the Open House at Trinity Church Sunday to honor Mr. and Mrs. Alfred W. Justman on their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

An informal program of reminiscence was enjoyed and the choir, of which Mr. Justman is director, sang "Bless This House" and their grandchildren, Marilyn and Bob Messer sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and Marilyn sang "May The Good Lord Bless and Keep You." Pastor Langseth read words of Scripture and a massed choir of former and present members sang "Blessed Be The Tie That Binds."

A buffet supper was served to immediate relatives at 5 P.M.

Mrs. Justman’s corsage was of yellow roses and white mums and Mr. Justman wore a yellow mum.

Mr. and Mrs. Justman, the former Hilda E. Johnson, were married in the Colby parsonage March 29, 1911 traveling to Colby in a surrey with fringe on top, by Rev. Hartenstein.

Mrs. Justman lived in the Town of Unity all her life. Mr. Justman came from Theresa and Mrs. Justman September 25, 1892. They are both in good health.

They farmed southwest of the village for 40 years on the farm now owned by their son-in-law, Ansel Messer. Mr. Justman also operated a portable saw mill with his brother, Roy, for 30 years. For 15 years after his marriage he directed a band in Unity and also, with his brother, Roy, and sister, Minnie Matteson, played for dances.

The couple has a daughter, Mrs. Ansel (Myrl) Messer, Unity, and a foster son, Charles Justman of Oshkosh, whom they raised since early childhood. There are 6 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Justman who were attendants at the wedding 50 years ago were present for the event Sunday.

Out of town relatives present were Mrs. Minnie Matteson, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Domer, Mr. and Mrs. Don Schneider, Linda and Gary of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Manthei, and Eddie, Minneapolis; the Charles Justman family, Robert Hesner, Oshkosh; Mrs. Estelle Wieland, Dubuque, Iowa; and many relatives and friends from nearby towns.
