Loughead, John H. (9 Jan. 1893 - 6 Dec. 1959)


John H. Loughead, 66, passed away at his home at Milton Junction Sunday evening, December 6.


He was born January 9, 1893 in Poer, Iowa and married Oine [sic] (*Olive Bertha) Bryant in Millard, Iowa, October 29, 1919. Soon after their marriage they moved to a farm in the town of Brighton until 1943 when they moved to ? in the Whitewater area.
Mr. Loughead, a veteran of World War I is survived by his wife, six daughters, 18 grandchildren and 3 brothers, Fred and Tom, Unity and William, Abbotsford; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mayme Peden, Milwaukee; Mrs. Raymond Cook, Marathon; and Mrs. Lyle Fuller, Wausau. One sister preceded him in death.


The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at Milton Junction. Relatives from this area attending were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Loughead, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Loughead, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Loughead, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fuller.

I started reading the article about life in Unity Wisconsin during the 40’s. I think my mom lived there during that time! I see where you mentioned Tom Loughead a few times, I think he may have been my mom’s cousin. Her father was John Henry Loughead married to *Olive Bertha Loughead and my mom was Olive Emagene Loughead and she had 5 sisters - Laurene/Gail, Iola, Eloise, Elva, Joan. Can you tell me anything more about her family and where they lived, or where I can find more information….? Mark S. Videka
