Rottjer, Anna (3 FEB 1872 - 3 NOV 1941)

Mrs. Anna Rottjer passed away at 1 p.m., Nov. 3, 1941 at the home of her son Henry in the village of Loyal. Her death was the result of heart trouble and other complications. Mrs. Rottjer had reached the age of 69 years, 10 months, and one day.

Mrs. Rottjer, nee Anna Marie Neubauer, was born Feb. 3, 1872 in Voelknow, Germany, where she spent her early years and received her education. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. At the age of 19 she came to the United States, and on Feb. 10, 1896 she married John Rottjer at Elkton, Minn. Mr. Rottjer preceded Mrs. Rottjer in death as did also two of her sisters and Marie and Elsie, two of their five children.

Mr. and Mrs. Rottjer came to Loyal in 1919 making their home on a farm one mile southeast of Loyal until the death of Mr. Rottjer June 20, 1938. It was then that Mrs. Rottjer moved into the village, where she lived with her son Henry and family during her remaining years.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Irvin (Adeline) Macksam, Beaver Dam; two sons, Henry and William, Loyal; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Marie) Kraft of Elkton, Minn., and Mrs. Arthur (Elizabeth) Larson of Rose Creek, Minn.; two brothers, Herman Neubauer of Columbia, S. D., and Reynold Neubauer of Sherwood, N. D., and seven grandchildren.

Services were conducted Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Ohlrogge Funeral home in Loyal, the Rev. J. C. Langholz officiating, and Friday p.m., at the Arthur Larson home, Elkton, Minn., followed by the church rites at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Elkton, with the Rev. Gade officiating. Mrs. Rottjer was laid to rest beside her husband in the St. John’s Lutheran cemetery.

Those in charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Clara Tuste, Mrs. Ben Kraft, Mrs. Ches. Kraft, and Mrs. Anna Drake.

The friends assisting as pall bearers were Max Pinke, Frank Jeck, Charles Kraft, Albert Kraft and Frank Kline.
