Fifteen Graduated From High School

Largest Class in the History of the School Complete Course Before Large Audience

The twenty-third annual Commencement Exercises of the Colby High School were held before a very large audience in Colby opera house, last Thursday evening, June 1st. The program was a very interesting one and enjoyed by all.

The hall was tastefully decorated with the class colors, lavender and white, and class flowers, white carnations. The motto, "More Beyond," was over the stage. The class, fifteen in number, were seated on the stage in a semi-circle. They are: Edith Smart, Isabelle Bast, Eva F. Frane, Clara Schmitt, Esther Johnson, Agnes Provinski, Theresa Ohlinger, Emma M. McMonagle, Kyle J. Pinney, Joseph Jantsch, Nelson A. Fuller, Vernon R. Cramer, Herbert D. Kuentz, J. Adelbert Young, Irvin H. Eggebrecht.

The graduates presented their parts exceptionally well and deserve credit for their efforts. All were well prepared and the manner in which they were delivered showed careful training.

The program as rendered was: Song, "Gypsy Chorus," by H. S. Chorus; Invocation by Rev. H. Bastow; Salutatory, by Herbert Kuentz, this number was a little out of the usual style and amused the large audience as well as the class; "The Last Supper," by Kyle Pinney; Piano Duet, by Lucy Fleischmann and Mary Konrad; Valedictory, by Joseph Jantsch; Presentation of Diplomas by Principal Imelia J. Slinde; Piano Solo, "The Flatterer," by Marie Kautsky; Commencement address, by Hon. Spencer M. Marsh of Neillsville. Mr. Marsh is a very interesting speaker and held the audience in rapt attention throughout his address; Song by H. S. Quartet; Benediction, by Rev. H. Bastow. Each number was worthy of special mention but our space will not permit.
