Laufenberg, Mary A. (5 February 1953 - 14 March 2008)

Mary A. Laufenberg, 55, of rural Alma Center died at her home Friday, March 14, 2008.

Mary was born February 5, 1953, in Neillsville to parents Darwin and Shirley (Austin) Graves. She married Frank Laufenberg December 29, 1972, in Black River Falls.

Many in the community knew Mary through the Esser Insurance Agency, where she worked for 24 years as office manager. Four years ago, she became a licensed insurance agent.

Mary was a wonderful friend to many in the community. She was a volunteer at the local elementary school and also volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Blue Birds. She served as president of the Alma Center Lincoln School Board from 1986 to 1995. She also served as the secretary for Jackson County Wildlife for 10 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center.

Mary will be remembered for her kind, giving personality. Her unique talents were displayed for the past seven years at the family-owned and operated Pumpkin Patch. It was here that her passion for flowers, landscaping and fall decorating will be remembered.

She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her husband, Frank; two sons, Scott (Melissa) Laufenberg of Fountain, MN, and Jason (Jodean) Laufenberg of Eau Claire; daughters, Kari Laufenberg of Jim Falls, and Teresa Hrdlicka of Jim Falls, as well as many other relatives and friends. Her grandchildren include Brett, Noah, Ian, Ty, Jackson and Stella (due to be born in July). She will also be missed by her golden retriever, Tucker.

Funeral services for Mary A. Laufenberg will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Alma Center with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan.

Friends may call Saturday, March 22, 2008, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, and at the church one hour prior to services.
