Kolaczkowski, Louis (23 MAR 1925 - 20 NOV 1944)

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kolaczkowski, parents of Pfc. Louis Kolaczkowski, 19, received a telegram from the Adjutant General’s Office, Washington, Monday, informing them of the death of their son who was killed in action in Germany on Nov. 10, 1944. He was with the 34th Division. No further details were given but a letter would follow, the telegram stated.

Pfc. Kolaczkowski has been in the service since June 30, 1942 and was sent overseas Sept. 16, 1944. His last letter, dated November 8th, came from Holland.

PFC. Louis Kolaczkowski, the 19 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kolaczkowski of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), was killed in action in the U.S. Army, 84th Division, in German on Nov. 20, 1944, according to word received by his parents last week Monday.

Louis was born in the Town of Withee on March 23, 1925. He attended the local grad and high school and was employed at the Farmers Store and Soo Railway before being inducted into the army on June 30th, 1943. He received his training in camp Walters, Texas and Camp Claiborne, La., before being sent overseas on Sept. 16, 1944. He was landed in England and served in engagements in France and Holland, from where he wrote his last letter to his parents, dated Nov. 14, 1944.

He is sadly missed by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kolaczkowski and one brother, Pvt Raymond of Fort McClellan, Alabama.
