Szatalowicz, Frank (3 OCT 1860 - 2 DEC 1944)

Frank Szatalowicz, 84, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Cukla, in the Town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), of old age infirmities on Saturday evening, Dec. 2, 1944. Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church Wednesday morning with burial in the parish cemetery. An obituary will be published next week.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Dec. 6, 1944 for Frank Szatalowicz, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Cukla in the town of Thorp, on Saturday, Dec. 2, 1944. He had reached the age of 84 years, 1 month and 28 days.

Frank Szatalowicz was born in Poland on Oct. 3, 1860. He was united in marriage there to Julia Horaczynski on Aug. 12, 1893. They immigrated to this country in the same year and were one of the pioneer settlers of this community, having resided in the town of Thorp for the past 51 years. The deceased celebrated his golden wedding anniversary in Aug. 1943.

Mr. Szatalowicz was one of the charter members of the Polish National Alliance, acting as treasurer for many years.

He leaves to mourn his wife and five children: (Anna) Mrs. Frank Zajac, (Sophie) Mrs. John Zdrojkowski, (Mary) Mrs. Tom Szatalowicz, (Harriet) Mrs. Paul Stobinske and (Frances) Mrs. Paul Cukla, and twelve grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death.

A requiem high mass was conducted Thursday at 10:00 in the morning by Rev. Francis Piekarski of St. Hedwig’s parish. Rev. Jerome Kamla of Czestochowa and Rev. Pollak of St. Mary’s at Stanley.

The body was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: Jos. Czech, John Balcer, Louis Twarowski, Ignatz Przybylski, George Zukowski and Michael Kaminski.

Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Anna Zajac, Emmett, Mich.; Mrs. Paul Stobinske, Chicago, Il.; Steve Mroz, Minneapolis, Minn.; C-N Lorraine Szatalowicz, Marshfield, Wis.; Mrs. Joe Wisniewski, Mrs. Mary Starosielec, Mr. and Mrs. John Stasczuk, Gilman, Wis.
