Bizer, J. Rev. (46th Birthday - 16 Apr. 1913)

Wednesday, April 16th, 1913, was the 46th anniversary of the birth of Rev. J. Bizer, and in the evening about 140 of his congregation and other friends gave him a most pleasant surprise. All present enjoyed the evening’s amusements, and wished the Reverend many happy returns. Refreshments were served.

***Rev. John Bizer was pastor of the Evangelical Church on Broadway at Medford and of the Evangelical Peace Church of Dorchester for 17 years. He passed away last Thursday afternoon, April 12, 1932, at the farm home of his son, Julius, in the town of Browning.

John Bizer was born at Tilfengen, Germany, April 16, 1867 and lacked but 4 days of being 65 years old. The first 20 years of his life, Rev. Bizer spent in Germany, coming to the United States in 1887 to enter Eden Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., to study for the ministry.

At the completion of his seminary course Rev. Bizer went to Shelby, Iowa, to take charge of his first parish. On October 10, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Reichert in the town of Russell, Sheboygan County. Seven children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy, while Bizer’s were still at Shelby.
