Capital Scribes Honor Schuette

Oswald F. Schuette has been elected president of the National Press club, by the board of governors, to succeed John T. Suter, resigned. The vacancy was the result of Mr. Suter’s appointment as confidential secretary to Attorney General McReynolds.

Mr. Schuette has been the Washington correspondent of the Chicago Inter Ocean since 1908, and a week ago was appointed also as the representative of Leslie’s Weekly.

He is the chairman of the Washington committee of the Press Club of Chicago, and a nonresident member of the Milwaukee Press Club.

Mr. Schuette traveled in Europe in 1906 and 1907 as a special correspondent of the Evening Wisconsin, and upon his return to America became a political writer on the Inter Ocean.

Oswald Schuette is a nephew of John and Peter Beyerl, of this place, and spends a portion of his summer vacations here each year. His many friends will be pleased to learn of his promotion to president of the National Press Club.
