Mattson, Elda (21 FEB 1946)

Elda Mattson of Holdingford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Kriese of Oshkosh, Wis., and Paul E. Shields, son of Mrs. Mabel Shields of Minneapolis, were united in marriage at the parsonage of the Basilica of St. Mary’s Church at Minneapolis on Thursday, Feb. 21, 1946, at 10:00 a.m., Rev. David A. Roney officiating.

Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Shields of Minneapolis, brother and sister-in-law of the bridegroom.

The bride wore an aqua blue suit with black accessories, and a corsage of Talisman roses. Mrs. Robert Shields wore a cocoa brown suit with brown accessories. Her corsage was of gladiolas.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the groom’s mother for immediate relatives and friends of the couple.

On Friday the couple left to visit with the bride’s parents at Oshkosh, Wis. On Sunday a family reunion was held at the Kriese home in honor of the newlyweds and in celebration of the 46th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Kriese. Sixty relatives were present.

Mrs. Shields will continue as editor of the Holdingford Herald. Mr. Shields, who received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Dec. 8th, after 37 months of service, will enter the School of Printing at Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis, in the near future.
