Cannonville - Apr. 12, 1945

Our sudden spell of winter is passed and on Sunday the temperature had risen to 70 degrees and all trace of the heavy snowfall had disappeared. Those who were making maple syrup were surprised by a bountiful flow of sap which produced very fine syrup.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer was at home from Marshfield over the week-end. She recently changed rooming places and is now at the Leland Dopp home. Mrs. Dopp was formerly Miss Eileen Stevens of Shortville.

Most everyone voted at our town election last Tuesday, but no changes were made in the officers.

Pratt Dow visited at the Harry Owens home last Tuesday. He rode back and forth from Chili with the two carpenters who are working on the Richard Qualley house.

Mrs. Harry Owens sat in at election.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Millar were week-end visitors with the Harry Owens family. Mr. Millar recently sold his farm to his son William of Madison, who plans to remodel the house.

Wilbur Buddinger went to Neillsville recently and helped his uncle and aunt, the Turners, move.

The Leland Hansen family of north of Granton were Sunday guests of his parents, the Harry Hansens.

Mrs. Hugo Martin and children called on Mrs. Buddinger Sunday afternoon.

The Oliver Williams family entertained the William Poler family and an aunt from Washington state Monday for dinner.

The Albert Zank family were Sunday guests of his folks, the William Zanks, of Pine Valley.

Mrs. Theressa Thomas will entertain the Ladies’ Aid next Thursday, April 19.

The Harry Klessig family did business in Marshfield Saturday afternoon.

The recent snowstorm made the roads very bad and people all along the highway were kept pretty busy pulling cars and trucks out of the mud, but they dried up surprisingly fast and since Sunday are good all over.
