Martin, Helen M. (27 APR 1946)

Spring flowers and palms flanked the altar of Holy Rosary Church, April 27th, 1946 when at eight o’clock mass, the Rev. Alexis Martin read a nuptial service for his sister, Miss Helen Mae Martin, daughter of Frank Martin, Kenosha, and Chester Thomas Zdrojkowski, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zdrojkowski, Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.

Festivities in honor of the couple began with breakfast at her home following the church rites, with a reception of 200 relatives and friends at Burger Hall.

"Viennese lace" fashioned the bodice of the bride’s white satin gown and trimmed her fingertip veil. The gwon was fashioned with a round neckline and leg o’mutton sleeves, and the veil was held in place with a beaded tiara. She carried white roses and sweet peas with streamers. Frank Martin presented his daughter in marriage.

Miss Gilda Cheren, maid of honor, wore a pink gown of taffeta and net with three-quarter sleeves and tiny bows of taffeta decorating the skirt. She wore a matching blusher and carried a bouquet tied in pink ribbon. Michael Martin was best man.

Mrs. Zdrojkowski changed to a black and white check suit for her wedding trip. She and her husband went to northern Wisconsin for about two weeks. They will live with his parents on their return.

Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. John Zdrojkowski, mother and father of the groom; Mrs. Anton Zaborowski, sister of the groom; Clemence Zdrojkowski, brother of the groom. Relatives of the bride from out of town were from Chicago and Gary, Indiana.
