LaFlex, Phyllis (14 JUL 1946)

On Sunday afternoon, July 14th, 1946, in a wedding ceremony at 2:00 o’clock at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Reseburg, Miss Phyllis LaFlex, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank LaFlex of the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Louis Wald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wald of Stanley. The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. F.H. Sprengler of Dorchester, Wis.

The bride chose for her wedding a lace top and peplum gown with net skirt and train. Her fingertip veil was trimmed with lace and fell from a jeweled tiara crown. She carried a shower bouquet of calla lily, white carnations and gardenias, and also wore a gold cross, the gift of the groom.

Maid of honor was Miss Lillian Teclaw and first and second bridesmaids were Miss Donna LaFlex, sister of the bride, and Corrin Wald, sister of the groom. All wore blue dresses with lace top and peplum with net skirt over taffeta. They wore matching blushers trimmed with sequins and gold crosses, gift of the bride. The maid of honor’s flowers were of white and yellow carnations and the bridesmaids carried bouquets of white and pink carnations.

Attending the groom were his brother Darwin Wald and Lauren LaFlex, the bride’s brother. The groom and his attendants wore dark brown suits with white boutonnieres.

The flower girl, Patricia La Flex, the bride’s sister, was dressed in white brocaded satin with net skirt and white blusher. She carried a basket of white and pink carnations and rose buds. The ring bearer, LeRoy LaFlex, the bride’s brother, wore a suit of white nylon serge with red carnation boutonniere and carried the ring upon a white, heart shaped pillow.

Mrs. Leo Tobola and Mrs. Loran Bivans, accompanied by Mrs. Geo. Wendt, sang "Wedding Prayer" and "I Love Your Truly."

A reception, shower and wedding dance was held at the American Legion Hall in Thorp.

The groom is a graduate of Stanley High School with the class of 1938 and spent 45 months in army service. The bride graduated from the Thorp High School in 1942. She has been employed as cashier at the local Farmers Store.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Northern Minnesota and will make their future home in the Town of Withee.

Out of town guests attending the reception were: Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wald, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wald, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Janusowski, Mrs. George Schunk and family, Mrs. Bess Eslinger, Miss Marion Mahr, of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Qierach and son Teddie, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thumb and Mrs. Waldemae Hilgendorf and son Quald, of Thiensville, Wis.; Mrs. Hans Anton Jr., of Thief River Alls, Minn.; Mrs. Ernest Stiehlow and daughter and Miss Agnes Lothenbach of St. Paul, Minn.; Miss Dorothy Vanderhyden and Cliff Carlson of Milwaukee, Wis.; Rev. and Mrs. F.H. Sprengler and family of Dorchester, and the former’s sister of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Culbert and Frank Stuttgen of Eau Claire, Wis.; Mrs. Erwin Poulter of Cadott.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank LaFlex also celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary.
