THE NORTHWEST PART OF THE TOWN OF WITHEE

 

Rev. L. I. Orlik assisted Bishop Schwebach of LaCrosse, in the confirmation ceremonies conducted at Edson and Boyd on Sunday and Monday Last.

 

Joseph Koniecnzy who was injured recently by an explosion of dynamite, is improving and will soon be at work again.

 

The annual meeting of St. Joseph's Association was held on Sunday lat at St. Hedwig's church, and five new members joined the association, making now in all fifty-five members.

 

The Brintnall Studio has moved onto the lot two doors north of Dr. McKittrick's residence.  It won't be as easy to find but we will try our best to make it pay you to hunt for us some when you want pictures made.  Call on us anyway.  You don't need to have work done to be welcome.

 

The races which took kplace at the Thorp Driving Park on Saturday and Sunday last were the best ever held here.  The horses present were some of the best in the State and the races were interesting from start to finish.  The track was a trifle heavy owing to the continued heavy rains of late, still horsemen generally remarked the fact that no better track exists in northern Wisconsin.

 

The result of the races on Saturday were as follows:  Colt race, 1/2 mile, best 2 in 3--Katy K., owned by James Connor, 1st Shadow, N. L. Butler, 2nd; Oakland Belle, Herman Freiss, 3rd.  Best time 1:40.  2:20 pace or trot, 1 mile, 3 in 5--H. D. Parsons, owned by J. W. Hintz, Rib Lake.   1st:  Billy Gaull, Joe Wicker, Medford. 2nd.  Best time 234.  Running race, 1/2 mile, 2 in 3--May Thomas, owned by J. Hardy, Cadott, 1st; Bluero, Snow, Sparta, 2nd; Roy F. W. Haight, Medford, 3rd  Best time :53, The result of Sunday's program: 3:00 Pace, 1 mile, 3 in 5--Merle F., owned by Joe Wickner, Medford, 1st; Lambert, Joe Bauer, Medford, 2nd; Princox, H. Friess, 3rd.  Best time 2:35.  Free for all, 1 mile, 2 in 3--H. D. Parsons, owned by J. W. Hintz, Rib Lake, 1st; Billy Gault, Joe Wicker, Medford, 2nd.  Best time 2:35...........missing content
