A 7:30 o’clock double ring candlelight ceremony was held Saturday evening, June 16, 1945, at the Curtiss Congregational Church at which Fred Pudlas of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) gave his daughter, Miss Grace Fern Pudlas, in marriage to Toivo K. Kallio, Owen.

Soloist for the occasion was Norman Erickson, who sang "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly" to accompaniment by Miss Elaine Jakel. Miss Jakel also played the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" by Wagner, and Mendelssohn’s "Wedding March." Officiating at the wedding was the Rev. C.S. Matthews.

For her wedding, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas of Curtiss, was attired in an entrained gown of white ninon over satin. It had a full skirt, long sleeves and yoke with wide lace.

Draped from the high tiara of seed pearls was the fingertip veil. For jewelry the bride wore a gold locket, and her all white colonial bridal bouquet was made up of gardenias and roses.

The bride’s sister, Mrs. Alfred Thompson, Curtiss, as matron of honor, wore pink ninon over satin, the dress having a sweetheart neckline and bracelet length sleeves. The bonnet was pink, and pink roses and white snapdragons formed her colonial bouquet.

Similarly attired in blue were the two bridesmaids, Mrs. Ralph Peterson, Curtiss, and Mrs. Lynn Garces, Detroit, Mich., both cousins of the groom. Pellervo Puro of Owen was best man.

The bride’s mother wore powder blue crepe romain with white accessories and the groom’s mother had navy and white print with blue accessories. Both had corsages of white print with blue accessories. Both had corsages of white sweet peas and yellow tea roses, and the fathers’ of both the bride and groom had white carnations for boutonnieres. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kallio, Owen.

A 5 o’clock dinner was served 24 guests, members of the bridal party and immediate families, at the home of the bride’s parents. The place was decorated for the occasion with pink, blue, and white streamers, a white wedding bell, and assorted garden flowers and fern. A decorated wedding cake centered the table, with candles place on either side.

Approximately 100 people attended the 8 o’clock reception at the Fred Pudlas home, Mrs. Arnold Laack, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Woodrow Peterson, sister of the groom, pouring.

Mr. and Mrs. Kallio left on a week’s wedding trip to North Spooner Lake, and after June 24 they will be at home to friends at Curtiss, where the groom is engaged in farming. His wife will continue to teach the Curtiss State Graded School, a position she held the past 1 ½ years.
