PETER ALEXANDER LARSON

With Flag

Peter A. Larson, age 80, of Thorp passed peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp with Rev. John Sindler officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Peter Alexander Larson was born on May 11, 1927 in Chippewa Falls, WI to Lief and Anna (Zinsli) Larson. He was raised and educated in Thorp and graduated from Thorp High School in 1945. He enlisted in the United States Navy on May 30, 1945 and served during WWII until his discharge on July 17, 1946. He later attended UW-River Falls for two years and UW-Madison for three years. Pete then worked for various companies such as A. O. Smith in Milwaukee, Canada Dry Co. in Chicago, and for the U. S. Government as a food inspector also in Chicago. In 1960 Pete returned to Thorp to assist his ailing father run Larson’s Feed Mill.

On June 21, 1971 Peter was united in marriage to Bonnie Meyer at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford, Wis. After his marriage, Pete expanded Larson’s Feed Mill and continued to run it until his retirement in 1992.

Pete was a member of the Thorp American Legion Post #118 and the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church and served as an alderman for Ward 1 of the City of Thorp for six years. Peter lived life to its fullest. He was an avid water skier, snow skier, scuba diver, tennis player and all around adventurer. He was a visionary in business, generous to a fault and people remembered him wherever he would go.

Pete had a deep love for literature and the pursuit of knowledge and because of his strong faith, his family knows - beyond a doubt - that he is now in the company of the Lord. We will all, however, miss him greatly.

Pete’s immediate family includes his wife, Bonnie Larson of Thorp; one step-son, James Langteaux of Charlotte, NC; three sisters: Kathleen and Chris Christle of Naples, Fl, Elaine Below of Las Vegas, NV and Ann Riesz of Las Vegas, NV; one sister-in-law, Ann Larson of San Antonio, TX; nieces, nephews and various friends.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lt. Col. Thomas Larson.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
